We first met Elisabetta through her charming blog. It was clear from the plethora of experiments and documentations that she is totally obsessed with creating gorgeous markings and prints on reclaimed pieces of fabrics.
Her blog highlighted her intrigue and ability to be inspired by everythingand eagerness to experiment. Example: On receiving a camera from ebay, instead of being totally distracted by her new toy which she'd so eagerly been waiting for, she noticed the protective bubble-wrap it came in, and put it straight to the printing-test!
But the thing we loved most about Elisabetta, is her devotion to only printing on discarded fabrics. She's totally passionate about giving fabrics new leases on life and not feeding into wasteful over-consumerism or feeding the landfill!
On this rather exciting blog discovery, naturally, we got in touch. It turned out, not only is she the most wonderful fabric printer (which in fact, is just a hobby!), she's actually an even better photographer!
Elisabetta was born in Turin, Italy and holds an MA in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International Studies of Geneva. Since 2009, she's been living and working in Berlin.
Her passion for photography began with her first camera, at age twelve. Ever since, she’s experimented with a variety of analog cameras, ranging all the way from polaroids to large format cameras.
Her photographs shed light on scenarios in uncommon ways, often addressing work-related issues, specifically precarious work situations, for example. Her interest in sustainability also comes through her photography, particularly, her works on urban life and urban development. She’s interested in the way cities’ public spaces are used and in the way citizens shape the urban environment, through projects and democratic actions.
We're absolutely delighted to present Elisabetta in our Ethical Database as afreelance photographer... and yes, we're still hounding her about getting some of her gorgeous printed fabric pieces into our Ethical Fabric Shop and Haberdashery!
