Offset Warehouse are pleased to announce our range of "Khadi" hand-woven fabrics, coloured with natural dyes.
Based on hand-woven & hand-spun techniques, all the fabrics use natural materials like cotton, organic cotton, silk and wool. No environmentally-harmful chemicals are used what-soever in the process of making the cloths, weaving and dyeing them.
The World Bank’s current definition of the poverty line is ‘those who earn less than 2 US Dollar a day’ which is about 80 Rs. The manufacturers of this Khadi fabric, based in Gujarat, work as a co-operative, paying their workers 2.5 US $ and supplying them with clean water, shelter, sanitation, health and education.
The Gujarat manufacturers are also currently working towards setting up their own design studio in order to develop different weaves and create different types of fabrics. Their aspirations are to eventually set up a centre to archive and exhibit textiles and to provide training to encourage environmentally friendly and Fairtrade fabric manufacture.
