Hatastic Launch

In keeping with the wedding spirit this week (it's tomorrow- How exciting!) and inspired by the lovely Kate, we would like to introduce to you our newest fascinators and hairpieces...

http://www.julietlemon.com

We mentioned that a fabulous array of hair accessories was coming your way, and the day has finally arrived where we get to share them with you and point you to our first few additions!

Not only that, but we have an exclusive few words from the designer, Chloe, herself about her new collection, and three previews of what you can expect!

http://www.julietlemon.com

My new collection 'L'air du Temps' - translation I use is 'Spirit of now'.

It's a ten piece collection of reworked old hats made out of sinamay, sisal and paper(!) and adorned with vintage remnants, jewellery and millinery foliage. The only new thing added to any of the hats is possibly the elastic which fixes them to the head.

My inspiration was the artist Bakst who was the designer for the Ballet Russe. He created the most gorgeous fluid costumes...gorgeous...

The full collection will be launched very soon! Oh and I'm up for an award too so it's all go...gulp!

Behind the scenes: Offset Warehouse's fashion editor, rocks one of our newest additions!

Our fashion editor, Rhiannon, couldn't resist - it was like Christmas when she opened the hat boxes and all these fabulous colours with quirky adornments came out!  So she insisted she wore one of them on a recent shoot, where we were also updating profile pictures... her profile pic coming soon!

Can't wait any longer? Pick up pieces from our first lot today, before they all go!

Wedding fever!

With only three days to go to the royal wedding, wedding fever has hit me hard! All I can think about is, "How will she wear her hair?  What will her dress look like?"

In the spirit of this occasion, I turned my thoughts to ethical wedding dresses- something that I know very little about.  To my surprise, I have found six designers that I actually love!  Using peace silks and fairtrade fabrics, I was surprised to find that the dresses aren't the hippy, hempy, fumpy pieces I thought they'd be, but elegant, gorgeous works of art!  I'll definitely be checking out ethical alternatives for my wedding... now to find a groom!

Celebrating Eco fashion... Canadian style!

Vancouver Eco Fashion Week has been running for 5 years - and over there, it's big news! It's held biannually like most other fashion weeks, the difference, however, is it's dedicated solely to ethical fashion designers.

Vancouver has become well known for their independent designers who focus on usingrecycled, organically grown and locally produced fashion.

Showcasing women and mens clothing means everyone can get involved. The designers have created stylish, chic clothing that look fashion forward and best of all, they areunique.

We love pieces made from reclaimed fabrics - If the designer has used factory waste to make their clothing, much like the designer OSH  (whose clothes can be bought on our website) then your outfit will be unique, no one else in the world will have it and it'seco friendly! What could be better than that?

Having an entire week dedicated to eco fashion is a fantastic idea and should be practiced in more cities - especially London! The following would be huge and it would be a great way of getting more people involved and interested in a new kind of fashion!

Get involved....

...with Earth day a week today! Over the next week we will be giving youtips on how you can become greener with your lifestyle and, of course,fashion..

This year's theme, "A Billion Acts of Green", represents the millions of people that have done billions of acts of changing their lives to live more sustainably.

Facts about Earth Day!
  • It was started 41 years ago by Senator Gaylord Nelson who was concerned that theenvironment was not on the political agenda!
  • More than 20 million demonstrators took part in the first event
  • Celebrated by more than 500 million people all around the world! Will you be oneof them?
  • Some people prepare for the event weeks in advance with different events leading up to Earth day!

So what can you do?

Recycle, re-use and walk as much as possible!!

You could get your friends and families involved, by having parties where you remake old garments into new garments and accessories.  Not only will you be helping the environment but you may also end up with some gorgeous new editions to your wardrobe.

We shall be keeping you posted with videos, interviews and interesting facts over the week to get you involved...

Summer Loving...

It's that time of the week where we introduce a project you can try at home and vamp up your wardrobe and your style.

This week, make your own headbands or simply redesign a headband you already have to create something a little avant garde (think Katy Perry or Rihanna) or simple and girly like Taylor Swift or Emma Watson.

All you need is a plain ol' headband and then whatever you want to accessorize it with!  It could be something simple like some material wrapped around the head band, recycled from an old T-Shirt or a dress, accompanied by some fake flowers or a bow, or you could use something a bit more crazy like playing cards, or fake fruit - someoversized cherries look fab on a headband!

Use a glue gun to ensure they stick to the headband (*be careful, they're hot*) and you are ready to go out and rock your new look!

The best thing is you can make these headbands by re using old materials you may have lying around and making them into something new and exciting.  As well as making headbands, you can also make hair clips and even a vintage veil.

If a hard headband isn't your style then why not try re-using an old tie and turning that into a head band? The possibilities are endless when accessorizing your hair this summer!

Don't have time to make your own?  Don't worry, we've got some gorgeous hats, head bands and fascinators coming in to the Offset Warehouse Boutique soon...
